ReehKoe on Movement, Creativity, and Listening to the Body
For ReehKoe, yoga wasn’t love at first sight, it was love at first class. Four years ago, his sister invited him to try yoga, convinced he’d enjoy it. She was right. What started as curiosity grew into something more powerful once he completed yoga teacher training in 2024. One assignment, teaching a full flow to his peers, changed everything. “That moment made me want to keep doing it,” he says.
Creating Movement, Creating Style
ReehKoe doesn’t just build flows, he builds clothes. Both are guided by the same principle: freedom of movement. His sequences target the parts of the body we often forget, muscles that used to work effortlessly when we were younger, like sitting deep in a squat or attempting a split. His clothing follows suit. “If I can’t freely move the way I need or want to, I won’t make it or wear it,” he explains.
In his classes, strength, mobility, and mindfulness all meet. “During class, I want people to feel their bodies—where tension is, what’s shaky, what’s being stretched. After, I want them to feel accomplished. Not because they mastered something new, but because they moved intentionally.”
A Teacher for Many Communities
Balancing teaching at Funk Flow, Align Studio, and Good Vibes Yoga could feel overwhelming for some. For ReehKoe, it’s fuel. “Even on days when I don’t feel like teaching, once I get there and start, the motivation comes back immediately.” His flows are never “one size fits all.” Instead, he designs with progress in mind, targeting underused muscles and leaving students with small wins each class.
Tattooing and fashion also weave into his practice. Tattooing reminds him that a little discomfort can lead to something deeply rewarding. Fashion gives him the chance to test his designs in real time: “I’ve been trying to make clothes that work as everyday wear but can make it through a hot, sweaty yoga class. Teaching lets me put my prototypes to the test.”
Learning to Listen
Yoga has given ReehKoe something simple but profound: the discipline of listening. “Your body reacts to everything: what you eat, how you sleep, how much you stretch. It’s always telling you something. It’s up to you to pay attention.”
That mindfulness shows up in how he cares for himself outside the studio. While teaching, tattooing, and creating often keep him in service to others, he’s learning to carve out time to rest, even if that means saying no. When he’s not working, you might catch him upside down, literally. “I do a lot of handstands. I’m also one of those weirdos who stretch in public,” he shares.
If you’ve seen ReehKoe in class, you’ve seen his style, pieces he’s designed and stitched himself. For him, clothing is about more than looks. “I dress for comfort and joy. If your clothes feel good, you feel better. If they look good too, that’s just a confidence booster.”
What Comes Next
ReehKoe isn’t chasing a “five-year plan” or forcing his journey. “I like where I am. Growth is happening daily, and wherever that leads, I’ll be happy.” Whether on the mat, behind a tattoo needle, or at a sewing machine, his work carries one constant: it’s an authentic reflection of who he is. “If you saw my art without meeting me, I’d hope you’d still know a little bit about me.”
