Embracing Greatness with Pierre Durant

Pierre Durant

"This man is all about THE CULTURE! He operates a Sunday Brunch every month to highlight local Black Businesses and raise awareness throughout his community. In this effort of supporting these business, he also purchases their clothing to support them. His daily staple piece of clothing, of any outfit, is a dope graphic tee. I consider Pierre to be the Clark Kent of fashion because even as he wears his suits, or even his jeans and blazers, he ALWAYS wears a graphic tee to support the culture."

-B. Millage, The Millage

"I remember one of my first conversations with Pierre about Debonair Society, and I was impressed with how intently he works to craft unique events that represent and consistently build the culture of Young, Black Dallas. We often attend happy hours, mixers, or events that couple music and drinks - what Pierre does with Debonair Society and Mingling over Mimosas is adding conversation into the mix. His brand supports a number of black businesses as well as connects young, black professionals in a great way."

What is your greatest piece of advice you ever received?

My best friend told me in college that I am greater than I give myself credit for.  That if I believed in myself there is nothing I cant accomplish.

Describe the style in which you do business, what’s the biggest thing you’ve learned about the way that you work.

I believe that it is possible for everyone to win in business at the same time.  I try to conduct business with that motto. I have learned that I’m willing to go the extra mile to hopefully open doors for others

What does embracing your greatness mean to you

I believe that God blessed us all with an individual talent meant to make us great. Once we learn what that talent is, it is up to use to it maximize its potential with faith, hard work, and dedication.

What makes your brand greater then the competition, what sets you apart?

My brand is greater than the competition because it focuses on positive black cultural entertainment. My brand will always be know for its professionalism, customer service, nice atmosphere, and clean/fun entertainment.

How do you describe your personal style?

I believe that God blessed us all with an individual talent meant to make us great.

My favorite look to wear is a nice pair of jeans, casual or dress shoes, a tee shirt and a blazer. I like to think it is the millennial business casual look.

Fill in the Blank, in order to walk a mile in my shoes you _____.

Have to be a survivor.

I literally came from nothing. Everything I ever had I earned myself. I also had 3 lung surgeries in college that made me think I was going to die. These two things motivate me to live everyday to the fullest and give everything my all because I only have myself to fall back on. Failure isn’t an option when you are all that you have.

What makes your personal culture so unique? What do you want your impact on the culture at large to be?

When I dream of Debonair Society and what I will eventually get to I think of a modern day black wall street. I want my impact to be black economic greatness. I hope to inspire black entrepreneurship and to keep the black dollar in our community longer.

In terms of your personal entrepreneurial endeavors, what is the soul behind your brand and your main motivator?

My biggest motivator is the status of black people in today’s society.  I know what we are capable of and when I read the word it makes me believe I was called for greatness.

The goal of the EMBRACE YOUR GREAT campaign is to shine light on the greatness that is our peers, describe the uniqueness of each invdividuals personal or professional brands, how they leverage their own sense of style, and to inspire each and every reader to EMBRACE THEIR GREATNESS in their own STYLE.
